General Manager - Agriculture

Job Description

REED are working with a successful business based in South Kildare who specialise in Landscape care, grounds maintenance, agriculture maintenance vehicles and machinery. They are seeking a General Manager to head up the Irish business.   

Salary - €75,000 - €85,000, negotiable

Managerial experience across import, export, and a distribution environment is essential – experience in agricultural environment is desired.

Duties & Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily operations; including import, export and distribution, site management, supply chain, sales and marketing, people management, client relations, and service delivery. Ensuring profitable growth and operational excellence
  • Drive continuous improvement across all departments, ensuring high performance and compliance with industry standards
  • Develop and execute business strategies to enhance market position and expand the customer base
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Customers, Dealers, Key Customers and Distribution Partners, proactively addressing their needs and resolving any issues to ensure satisfaction.
  • Manage inventory needs and collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
  • Plan new promotions and initiatives, contributing to business development.
  • Act as the focal point for cross sales and operation communication ensuring service is never compromised
  • Ensure fleet usage is maximised to deliver responsive customer service
  • Regularly review to ensure all demonstration and transport fleet controls are in place
  • Work closely with senior leadership and corporate teams to align global strategies

Financial Oversight

  • Maintain P&L responsibility, ensuring regular and accurate reporting into the Managing Director, deadlines are met in line with business needs.
  • Produce forecasting and market share analysis.
  • Develop and manage budgetary and resource allocation plans to optimise profitability. Negotiate with vendors and service providers to control costs.

Leadership and People Management

  • Working with support from the UK team, foster a culture of innovation, safety, and teamwork
  • Ensure all legal responsibilities are completed in line with company expectations
  • Inspire and lead a diverse team to achieve excellence.
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and teamwork through consistent team-building activities.
  • Support recruitment with timely decisions and recruit for attitude above all else
